NERD NEWS SHOW NOTES:

MONDAY:

The backlash against Kathleen Kennedy continues!

She is the boss of Lucasfilm so in the end this all lands at her feet.

She hired directors, fired directors, and hired new directors, all within a single film.

She hired Rian Johnson, then gave him an entire trilogy!

The Last Jedi has fans more ticked off than a Jar Jar Binks tribute at Star Wars Celebration!

There have been rumors for weeks that she has either been forced out, or will step aside voluntarily for Star Wars 9.

Some are saying that she is giving JJ Abrams complete creative control.

There are also rumors that Disney boss Bob Iger wants Kathleen Kennedy out, but no one will take her job.

September is when this will all hit the proverbial fan.

Do you think it's true?

Last week we got the first look at Zachary Levi as Billy Batson/Shazam!

This seems to have excited fans.

It also inspired some to go a bit crazy with memes.

There are a few of them.

They are all exactly what you'd expect from the internet.

Yet perfect at the same time.

Please post your favorite Shazam memes in the comments section.

Shazam hits theaters on April 5th 2019.

Bogus Production Problems Might Stop Bill & Ted 3 From Happening.

Please someone tell us this isn't true?!

In a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Keanu Reeves sounded doubtful.

“I don’t know if [Bill & Ted 3] is a reality,” adding, “We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges.”

Shut up Ted!

TUESDAY:

Warcraft director Duncan Jones's next movie to be an adaptation of the classic 2000 AD character Rogue Trooper.

No further details about the Rogue Trooper movie have been revealed as yet, but the final line on Duncan's recent Twitter teaser suggests that more information will follow very soon--possibly at San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place next weekend.

If the movie happens it will be Jones's fifth film; most recently he directed the sci-fi thriller Mute for Netflix.

Rogue Trooper was created by writer Gerry Finley-Day and artist Dave Gibbons, and he first appeared issue 228 of 2000 AD, in 1981.

Zombieland 2 is happening.

A decade after the original.

The sequl will happen with director Ruben Fleischer and original cast.

The movie is expected to begin production in January, and hit theaters in October 2019.

Zombieland 2 will reunite Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin.

Stan Lee returns to Social Media!

The Twitter message text simply said "I’M BACK! – Stan."

However it included a video where the 95 year old explained that it took awhile to get used to being 79 years old.

He of course ended it with "Excelsior!,"

Godzilla: King of the Monsters first look.

The movie starts five years after 2014's Godzilla.

“The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we are overreacting,” says director Michael Dougherty.

The director continued, “but there’s paranoia and endless speculation about whether he is the only one out there or whether we’re threatened by others like his kind.”

In King of the Monsters they make it clear that there are other big beasts such as three-headed King Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan, and possibly more.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is out May 31st 2019.

If Tron and Mad Max Had A Baby.

A hubless motorcycle?

It looks really cool at first, but then you start to notice things.

The bike never turns.

A pedal bicycle is keeping up with the motorbike at one point.

The design would give me a massive fear of potholes.

But it does look pretty cool.

Jeremy Renner out of The Mission: Impossible series.

Due to contractual obligations to Marvel, Jeremy Renner's William Brandt is out.

Writer and director Christopher McQuarrie talked recently to Digital Spy about the absence.

“So there was just simply no predicting. If we had a finished script, we would have been able to say, ‘Yes, this will work and we can let you go for this time,’ but there was just no predicting what those roles were going to turn out to be. It was just an unfortunate case of bad timing.”

Stan Lee is the boss now.

Stan Lee is back with a new comedic series titled Work Force, which depicts the everyday zany lives of boss Lee and his team of superhero employees.

It's called Workforce and seems to be an animated comedy series.

Stan Lee himself plays the boss, with a team of superhero staff that he leads.

The series will be launched on TheRealStanLee.com website.

THURSDAY:

Little Book Chapter 2 was Noe Simple Task.

Being the eighth generation Beam family distiller comes with an automatic challenge to bring out the finest product.

Frederick Booker Noe III had to live up to the standard brought by Booker's bourbon, its namesake Booker Noe, and the legacy of the Jim Beam family.

Even the name of the whiskey is the nickname his grandfather Booker Noe gave him.

Although the second chapter of the Little Book series was his 34th attempt, the balance of Kentucky Straight Rye, Canadian Whisky, and Canadian Rye might be just what was needed.

It's a bold step to release a blended whiskey when you come from a legacy of straight bourbons and rye whiskies.

"In the end, I found the 40-year-old whisky and 13-year-old rye helped me achieve exactly what I wanted—a truly balanced and refined whiskey with a nice, lingering finish that’s full of flavor."

Will Mark Millar's Netflix series make him a Kingsman, and will it kick ass?

Mark Millar is best known for his work in comic books The Authority, The Ultimates, Marvel Knights Spider-Man, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Civil War, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Wanted, Chrononauts, Superior and Kick-Ass, the latter seven of which have been, or will be, adapted into feature films.

His next creations are strictly for Netflix.

"Jupiter’s Legacy” follows the world’s first generation of superheroes who received their powers in the 1930’s.

American Jesus follows a 12 year old boy reincarnated as Jesus Christ.

Three movies that are included in his Netflix deal are “Empress,” “Huck” and “Sharkey the Bounty Hunter.”

Will these live up to his reputation as a comic book writer?

Greg Berlanti developing Batwoman for CW.

Many already joke that Greg Berlanti owns the CW, but those jokes are only going to ring more true

Greg Berlanti and Caroline Dries are developing the drama ahead of the lesbian character's debut in the network's DC crossover event in December.

Batwoman revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence.

Who would you cast as Batwoman?

Comcast has dropped out of the fight for 21st Century Fox assets.

This means Disney will very likely soon own Avatar, The X-Men, Deadpool and The Fantastic Four.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Is Back!

There will be twelve new episodes released to the Disney streaming service.

This was announced during the 10th Anniversary Clone Wars panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Jason Momoa was almost an MCU villain.

“I met the Russo brothers, who are amazing,” Momoa revealed. “It was one of the best meetings I’ve ever had. I was going to do something with them, which unfortunately didn’t work out.”

He also auditioned to be in Guardians of the Galaxy,” and the rumor is that it was to play Drax the Destroyer.

Kevin Smith Isn’t Afraid Of Failing With ‘Hollyweed’

We've told you about Kevin Smith's new pot series that he launched on Rivit.

We now know that this new crowd funding site needs to bring in $5.3 million to greenlite six more episodes.

This doesn't include the pilot that you can watch now at the Rivit website.

If you had asked me [to do this] like six months ago, I would have been like, “Oh, I don’t know because what if it doesn’t work, and then I look like an a**hole or something like that.” I almost died f***ing five months ago, so now I’m like, “Let’s try it, man.”
