Bumblebee

Monday December 17th 2018

This weekend nerd and geek cinema kicked off it's two week takeover with three brand spanking new movies. The competition is going to be fierce and brutal, so some are bound to get buried. Let's take a look at the results.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse made $35,400,000 making it the champion of not just nerd and geek movies, but the box office overall.

Ralph Breaks the Internet gained the fourth spot for the weekend, adding $9,589,000 to its four week total.

Mortal Engines was the victim of this vicious battle raking in only $7,501,000 in its first weekend. The movie is a passion project of Peter Jackson reuniting him with Lord Of The Rings star Hugo Weaving.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald did a solid 5th week making $3,650,000.

Once Upon a Deadpool may be considered a disappointment with only $2,600,000 in its first week, but with it being a re-edit this is nothing but profit.

Next weekend the competition gets even more ruthless with Aquaman, Bumblebee, and Mary Poppins Returns joining the fray.

Please post your reviews of any of these movies in the comments. What movies should we all rush to?

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance cast members and first images:

Want to know who will be the voices involved in the upcoming Netflix prequel of The Dark Crystal? Leading the voice cast are Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel, as Rian, Brea and Deet, three Gelfling heroes. Other Gelfling characters are voiced by Helena Bonham-Carter, Eddie Izzard, Shazad Latif, and many more. Adding their voice talent to The Skeksis & Mystics are Mark Hamill, Keegan-Michael Key, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg, and several others.

Based on original 1982 production of The Dark Crystal, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is a prequel set many years before the events of the original movie.

Netflix has announced a few details of what the plot will be: "The world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins."

Karen Gillan is out promoting The Party's Just Beginning that she is the director, writer, and star of.

The movie is available on Amazon Prime now, but what we want to talk about are her words about part three of Guardians of the Galaxy.

In a recent interview with People magazine she talked about her role as Nebula and the future of the series without James Gunn.

“Our director won’t be with us any longer but we are excited to continue the Guardians of the Galaxy story and keep delivering to the fans. That’s the most important thing. I don’t have any details as to when [the next Guardians film will come out] but there’s a script in existence.”

There is no way James Gunn is coming back, so who do you think can save the Guardians Of The Galaxy?

Monday December 10th 2018

This weekend had the second lowest box office of the year, but next weekend should be massive.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Mortal Engines, and Once Upon A Deadpool will be released just days from now.

This is followed with Aquaman, Bumblebee, and Mary Poppins Returns on December 21st.

So you can call this 'The calm before the storm.'

Ralph Breaks the Internet still topped the box office with $16,253,831.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald raked in $6,953,846 for the weekend.

Netflix has released a teaser for season three of Stranger Things without releasing a single scene from the upcoming season.

They released the episode titles and that the show will be based in the year 1985.

The show titles announced are “Suzie, Do You Copy?,” “The Mall Rats,” “The Case of the Missing Lifeguard,” “The Sauna Test,” “The Source,” “The Birthday,” “The Bite,” and “The Battle of Starcourt.”

Some speculate that the Suzie mentioned in the first episode is Max Mayfield's mother Susan Hargrove.

Maybe the second episode is a trip to the mall that doesn't go as planned?

It's a pretty safe bet that the last episode will be a big fight against this seasons evil beast.

Please post the most ridiculous predictions possible in the comments.

Let's have some fun with these vague titles.

Bumblebee won't be released into theaters until December 21st, but it's already getting a 100% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Since that's only based on 12 reviews, that should be taken with a massive sized grain of salt.

Maybe people are just THAT happy that Michael Bay isn't in charge of the Transformers franchise anymore?

Or could it be that Travis Knight's work on Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls received so much respect that the hopes are extremely high.

Only time will tell if this sixth movie in the Transformers franchise can live up to those high expectations.

Will Bumblebee live up to the hype?

Post your thoughts in the comments.

BUCKETHEADS: A Star Wars Story (2018 Fan Film)

Sometimes a Star Wars Fan Film is released that everyone needs to stand up and take notice of.

BUCKETHEADS is one of these fan films.

Shot in September 2017 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, it had over 76 people directly involved in the project.

The story covers one battle from the Stormtroopers point of view.

Clocking in at 13 minutes and 34 seconds, it is highly recommended.

So please watch it and let us know what you think in the comments.

Kevin Smith Visits Star Wars Set

Kevin Smith recently visited the set of Star Wars nine.

As always, he had nothing but good things to say about it on a show called GMA Day.

As often happens, he got very emotional, and cried after watching a performance many are guessing was Mark Hamill.

"I wept on set because I saw somebody give a career-best performance. Somebody I’ve seen in these movies before. I rolled a tear, it was so darn powerful."

Guillermo del Toro Pinocchio Not For Kids

I can't be the only one who had zero interest in yet another adaptation of the story of Pinocchio.

Then I heard that Guillermo del Toro was the one behind it all, and suddenly I was down right excited.

I am aware that this stop motion version of Pinocchio being done for Netflix is not news.

I also understand that Del Toro being the writer, producer and director of this musical is not news either.

But the part I do find interesting though is that Del Toro is making it clear that this will not be a family friendly version of the age old tale.

“It’s not a Pinocchio for all the family. Of course. Pinocchio during the rise of Mussolini, do the math. A puppet during the rise of fascism.”

Del Toro continues with “He’s a creature that is created through unnatural means from a father that he then distances [himself] from, and has to learn about failure and pain and loneliness.”

Bumblebee director not directing Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

Bumblebee director Travis Knight is not directing Guardians Of The Galaxy 3.

In a recent interview he was blunt in his denial.

"I'm a huge fan of what Marvel did, it's no surprise for anyone to know that as a child I was a huge fan of comics. But no, it's just a rumor!"

So will Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 ever be made?

I still say that Kevin Smith is the only one on the planet that could take the job without massive backlash, but he seems loyal to DC so far.

Warwick Davis Not Returning To Leprechaun

Warwick Davis has been a fan favorite across many nerdy film franchises.

He is the most well known Ewok from Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter movies, and of course the star of the Leprechaun films.

Yeah, he was also Marvin in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Nikabrik in the The Chronicles of Narnia, and so many others, but this isn't just me reading his entire IMDB page.

This is about the one franchise he isn't interested in returning to; Leprechaun.

He will not be in Leprechaun Returns when it hits theaters December 11th.

That role will go to someone named Linden Porco instead.

In a recent interview Davis explained his reason why.

"You know what we did six Leprechaun films and around Halloween people always watch them and love them. Horror is an interesting medium, I think it's different when you have kids, you look at horror in a slightly different way. Since I finished the Leprechaun films I had kids and I see the world through their eyes and to be in a horror movie right now is probably not quite right, I will wait until my son turns 18 and then I'll do some horror again."

Obi-Wan Kenobi is movie back on!?

Also, George Lucas will return to make it?

And why is Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson the one to leak this information?

At the DUP Conference he said "Which was the biggest grossing movie last year? Star Wars and where does George Lucas propose to make a follow up about Obi-Wan Kenobi? Northern Ireland."

Is this a course correction while Disney tries to repair the damage of Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson?

Or is it the ravings of a crazy person that isn't aware that Lucasfilm made it clear that the Obi Wan Kenobi movie was dead?

It's all speculation at this point, so post your thoughts in the comments below.

A Judge Dredd tv show

Rebellion, based in nearby Oxford, is a comic book publisher and games developer

An Oxford based comic book publisher is taking over a print newspaper building to create a movie studio complex.

Rebellion's flagship productions are said to be a Judge Dredd tv show and a movie of extremely cult comic Rogue Trooper.

The studio will include Six soundstages, 220,000 sq ft, and 500 employees.

With such a major studio kicking things off with comic book based storytelling, is about as risky as it gets.

We wish them nothing but luck and it will be a dream if they pull it off.
